AHS is appy to report that Abby Drumm won the State Finals for Poetry Out Loud today in Boston!! 17,400 students participated this year in schools in Massachusetts. There were 15 finalists competing today in Boston. She's been invited on a paid trip to represent Massachusetts in Washington DC in the first week of May for the National Finals.
AHS Senior, Hannah Parker, was asked by ACAA (Agawam Community Arts Association) to present her artwork and discuss her process at their recent meeting. Hannah is an exceptional artist, who works in a variety of media, including the woodwork/paintings shown here. She presented her craft alongside seasoned professional artists, and was well received by all in attendance.
Students at AHS were inducted into the French and Spanish Honor Society.

Celebrating Agawam's STEM Fair and Parent Conferences this week, high school students' outstanding art and research projects are exhibited in the AHS Library Media Center.

Frankie Disanti has been selected to receive the 2025 Boston Bruins-
MIAA Sportsmanship Award. This award is presented annually by the Boston Bruins and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) to one individual from each high school ice hockey league in the state who best exemplifies the highest standards of fair play and sportsmanship. Frankie represents the Fay/ Wright League.
The presentation of this award will take place on Monday, March 17 at the TD Garden during the Boston
Bruins game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Uniforms from all previously-played sports MUST be returned before approval is given for spring season. Students must be in good standing.

On Thursday, a group of students and faculty from AHS took part in a student summit at Springfield College. The summit was a chance for students to connect with peers, share experiences, provide feedback, through student led focus groups. The groups were able to think deeply about the best ways for collaboration and co-design a reimagined future for AHS. It was a great day had by all involved!
AHS students helping out at James Clark helping with Amber Valdegas's Kindergarten class.
On Tuesday, 80 AHS student volunteers participated in a field trip going to Agawam's Elementary Schools. Throughout the afternoon, AHS Students read stories, led activities at recess and helped in Kindergarten to 4th Grade classrooms. This ended up being a fun day for everyone: the grammar school kids loved their visitors and it was a great way for AHS students to gain volunteer hours and leadership experience.
Students in Mr. Huestis´s Manufacturing/Engineering and Welding classes had an opportunity to learn more about Lincoln Technical Institute's programs and try virtual welding as well.
Last week teachers at AHS participated in an "Underground Spirit week".
Art students in Mrs. Osborne's classes created a art installation celebrating Black History month at AHS.
