Mission Statement
The staff and parents of James Clark Elementary School feel that we should provide experiences and activities in a safe environment that successfully prepare our students to become valuable community members.
We encourage our students to be respectful, caring citizens who strive to reach their potential, both academically and socially.
About Our School
James Clark School was established in 1957.
We are a K - 4 elementary school, with an enrollment of about 300 students.
Visitors & Security
One of the best ways to provide a safe environment in which to learn is to know who is in the building at all times. Many thanks to everyone for their understanding with our sign-in procedures.
Our buzzer system allows us to keep our doors locked throughout the school day. To enter the building, you must press a button outside the main entrance doors. This will alert the office to your presence and then we will ask for your name and the nature of your visit. We will then grant access to our visitors by pressing a button to unlock the door. Once inside, walk into the office, across from the doors. You will be asked to sign our office log, and will be given an identification badge in exchange for your car keys or license.
When you are coming into the school to pick up your child, please make sure you have your ID ready to be checked.

Report Student Absence
Please call the school if your child is going to be absent. Call the main number at 413-821-0571.
You may then select the option "Absentee Mailbox" (press 1) from the automated menu.
If you need to speak directly to the office, press 7.
If you do not call the school, you will receive an automated phone call reporting your child absent from school.
Please do not call the nurse's office to report your child's absence. Thank You.
Principal's Message
James Clark School has a highly dedicated staff of teachers, paraprofessionals and specialists. Through collaborative work, the staff works to provide a standard of instruction with the latest research-based practices and curriculum standards that will promote higher order thinking skills and independence in learning, technological competencies to be competitive in society, and an enthusiasm to be life-long learners. The staff is here to help every student reach their fullest potential and to be mutually respectful, accepting, responsible and self-confident adults.
